Some moments exist outside of time—suspended between darkness and illumination, between what was and what might be. Crescent City Nocturne captures one such moment: moonlight spilling across water, a city’s silhouette dissolving into night, the quiet drama of a world holding its breath.
This is my most ambitious work to date, and my most personal.
Born in Korea, raised in Slidell, Louisiana—just miles from the Crescent City itself—I have always been drawn to the liminal spaces where land meets water, where light pierces darkness. After years in the intensity of cardiovascular surgery, where I witnessed the delicate balance between life and shadow, I found myself returning to this image again and again. The moonlit water became a meditation on transition, on the beauty that emerges when we move between one state and another.
